Remington UMC Brass
« on: February 08, 2008, 03:36:19 PM »
I just picked up some UMC cartridges in .223 at Wally World, as it is pretty cheap.  I was wondering if the brass was of any lesser quality than typical Remington brass?  I wasn't thinking about it when I bought it,  but I minds well add it to my reloading stock.  Should I expect any problems with it?  Any input would be greatly appreciated.

thanks
jt

It's a little over 6 bucks per box here.Wally World get in a dozen or so boxes a week and I buy it all.I have had no problems reloading UMC brass. It's cheaper to buy these than to buy the brass.A win-win situation in my way of thinking.Again I have loaded several 100's rounds using the UMC brass and it has worked just fine for me......Rick

Hmmm didn't know they still used that headstamp  ??? I have some in .270 win and thought I had scrapped it all after two cases split across the head from primer pocket to extractor groove. Not nice at all  :'( but I found a tub (old ice cream one) with a load of that .270 brass in the other day. I don't know how old it is but I must have had it for 15 years and I obtained it already fired when first starting to reload. I suppose I could look at my reloading record and that would tell me when i got it.

I have other makes of .270 brass now and I tend to use them  ;).

Guys thanks for the input.  Brithunter you got me thinking about the head stamp so I went and looked and sure enough they have the regular RP head stamp.  I'm gonna have to make a run back to Wally World and clean em out....
