POST YOUR OPPINION PLEASE, YOUR HUNT ON A PIN
« on: February 07, 2008, 03:49:08 PM »
IF YOU COULD GET A PIN COMMEMORATING YOUR HUNT WOULD YOU ?

If the D.E.C. made a pin for your deer would you get it?  a decorative pin stating the year, # of points, and what it was shot with .
         __________
         |                |
         |     2007    |
         |  8 POINT  |      something simple like this maybe a gold background with silver or black writing
         |    RIFLE    |
         |_________|

I was wondering how many people would be interested in something like this.

please post comments or just a yes or no, thanks...
I'm not laughing at you I'm laughing with you,
                             Your just not laughing.......

Ever notice the deer we get is always smaller
                              than the deer we saw..??.lol

this may be on the line of your idea .If they made one they would make one fits all
instead of a 8 point, 6 point etc. I would think.
I find it hard to sell items items like this.
you may find some interested but very few sales.
the sample is for a 3" photo button.
2nd sample I do some successful and first deer photo frames for young hunters
again low sales.this stuff just don't sell good.

No I really wouldn't even if it was free I'd not send off for it. I can see where something of the sort might be of interest to youths or new hunters for a first kill or even the first few kills but when you've killed as many as most of us old farts around here have it really would be of no interest.

It would be kinda like trophies I used to win when I shot in competition I got so many I really had no place for them. My best friend Billy Doss (now deceased) and I donated scads of our trophies to have new tags put on them and gave them out at shoots we held at his range to young shooters and new shooters so they could have trophies to take home. At some point in your life such things stop having meaning to you when you've taken so many.

But the young and new shooters really liked having a set of trophies they could compete for separate from us old farts who always out shot them so that they couldn't actually compete on equal terms with us. We made a lot of smiles with those trophies.

Either the NRA or the North American Hunt Club already sells lapel pins of the kind described and if not them then somewhere I have seen them offered.  It might be advantageous to Google first before an investment is made in something that already exists.

What GB said. If anything, with a kid or novice, have a pin that said something on the order of "I am a successful deer hunter" .

No thanks.
In Michigan you get a patch that says you got a deer for year____ when you take yours to the DNR check point.

Sorry, I worked for an outfit that had a pin for everything.  I just tossed them in a drawer.

Of course I had a different attitude when I was a Boy Scout.

Illinois gives out pins with a deer head inside the outline of the state. Different colors for firearm or archery. I have a few, not too many as I was probably the unluckiest hunter ever for the first few years I went.(12 years on public land) But once I started getting deer I kept the pins and put them on a hat I have hanging on a hook by the door. My friend has a piece of driftwood on a table that he puts his on. I live in the city and don't get out to hunt as much as I would like and they are a nice reminder of my time in the woods.
