600 Overkill takes a beast
« on: February 02, 2008, 01:46:40 PM »
I got this big boar earlier this month in the U P of Michigan @ Bear Mountain. He weighed 480 lbs. Ufda. The load was a 900gr Woodleigh SP @ 2100 fps. I'm cooking some of him now, pretty good for a big old guy

It was one of their "Alpha Boar" hunt packages. These are for the biggest ones. They have lesser priced hunts as well. It's a 3 day hunt package that includes lodging at their nice lodge and all meals. It's a very nice operation. The accommodations are excellent and the people are too. I took my wife and she enjoyed the separate rooms and shopping in near by Marquette. You will see boars here you won't see most other places. All Kalden line Russians. No ferals here. I wanted a snow hunt and I got exactly that. I 'm going back.

we hunted at bear mountain, good place. however how do you know it was 480 lbs when we were there they said our pigs weight in at 275 lbs but no scale was to be found anywhere. we guessed our pigs to be maybe 225 lbs.

We took him to a local trucking company one of the guides new and weighed him on their digital freight scale.

interesting ammo belt.  you certainly werent taking chances on being undergunned or out of ammo!

there is a guy i see in my hometown that is part of that operation.  never talked to him and i guess i dont really care to.   the website is a tad hokey for me.

question for ya, and no judgements.  just wondering how big an area you hunted, and what kind of hunt was it?  kind of wondering....
