Just finished 17 HMR Black/Gray lam Stinger take a look
« on: February 13, 2008, 04:52:33 PM »
Here are some pics of my new project. This is a Gunstock's Inc. black/gray lam Stinger T-hole and Varmint for-end. The receiver barrel etc is German Gray Dura-coat. Warne rings color matched and a BSA "Sweet 17" 4X16X40 scope. I'll finish it off with a black Montana sling and go get some gophers, and other varmints. Hope ya like it.

Love the stock...... As you can see by the avatar. my next one might just be a lam.

Mixed emotions about the color of the barrel and action. But, if we all liked the same thing it sure would be a boring world wouldn't it. I like it, yet.....  Not that I don't. On a scale of one to ten...... 8-8.5. Depends on the area where it's used. Interesting color. Never seen it before. Maybe the whole gun? Without a doubt, you do good work. Needless to say you have a lot of time in it. Lots of detail. I like the pins being different color than the action. Nice work!!!!!

Over all>>>>>> a solid 9.5 Buddy. Now we want to see how it shoots!!!!!
I shoot first, and don't ask questions.

Very nice Gary .It gives me a very good idea of what my .225 Winchester will look like when finished cept my barrel will be 24" and fluted. Is the finish darkened some on the stocks ?What is the finish?I was hoping mine might have more of the gray stand out. Kurt

The finish on the barrel and frame is paint?
have you used this before, does it stand up to normal hunting use, thinking about doing
one in maybe at flat green

Thanks guys for the nice comments. The color kind of grows on ya. It is a perfect match to the sage that we hunt in in Eastern Montana for gophers, P-dogs and antelope. This is not just paint it is an epoxy (two part) called Dura-coat and I am a certified applicator for what that's worth. Lots of work goes into the prep of the mettle before you apply then you can bake to cure or air cure(14 days). Makes a good finish that can always be touched up and it seals the mettle so I don't have any rust problems. Wayne York has a finish that he says is even tougher. I'm doing a 10/22 for a friends wife that will be "Barney Purple" and silver and her daughter wants a "Hot Pink" one. I am looking for a color that I can use on the BC that would make the synthetic parts look like german silver or gold maybe. The BSA sweet 17 has a built in BDC for the 17 gr bullet out to 300 yds so that should be fun to play with. Thanks for the look I'll be sure to follow up with range reports when I can dig out of this snow.
Best to all - F50 aka Gary
