Will the forearm assembly from a .308 win. model 742 function on a 6mm rem. model 742? Is there some difference in size between a short action and a long action.

The .308 and 6MM both should be short not long action. Is there a difference dunno honestly but I'd think not on fore ends. Don't take that to the bank but I'm pretty sure the fore ends should be interchangeable.
