FREE FLOATING THE 38-55 TARGET BARREL
« on: February 13, 2008, 02:37:50 PM »
I have to say the guy who drilled the rear metal part that fits the rear of the forearm stock should be taken out and be beaten with a stick; The cheap screw (wood) I did replace and thank god for tooth picks to fill the large hole someone drilled.
I needed no spacer washer on this gun seem they did not route it deeper enough were the barrel lug fit in the hole.I did needed to remove wood on both sides of the wood stock realign the rear metal part and have o say it passes the dollar bill test

I am not really sure what you have going there?

But,  I will add this.................as its not brought up much here.

If you use a shooting sling be it Hasty or full loop 1907 style as I do.  Its better to have that for-end floated from the stud forward......ditto with shooting sticks.  I prefer the simple dowel sand to the stud,  add O ring and let behind the stud be or bed it back there if you don't need to switch barrels.  I don't to the pillar bed / stud then float foward that some (laotto spelling?) do here but thats even better yet.

Last with a shooting sling in Hasty on a Handi be it prone, sit, kneel, stand along with a shell saddle loaded on the butt stock and ejectors........you can reload these things darn near as fast as a bolt repeater.  The draw back is you will lose the target in the scope temp..............if the scope is not on ultra high power or using open sights............re-acquiring the target quick enough should not be a problem.
