I should be in about 2 weeks...mailed off my last lay-away payment on a like new FN-49 in 8x57, Egyptian contract...I know, doesn't help you, but I can't wait!  Got 900 rounds of Yugo to shoot!

I've located a Venezuelan contract FN49 in 7MM Mauser in NRA Very Good condition. I can almost 'hear' it calling my name......

I've shot extensively the 7mm, 8mm, and .30-06 versions of the the FN49.  They are great shooting guns, well made, and accurate.  The adjustable gas system makes it easy to adjust for wide variations in the surplus military ammo available in these calibers.  This particularly important because of the large amount of surplus heavy bullet 8mm machine gun ammo available.

If you decide to fire your 7mm Venezuelan, or 8mm Egyptian, I strongly suggest that you inspect and make sure that your rifles have the firing pin blocking device that prevents out-of-battery firing.  Many guns are missing this part.  This design is subject to slam firing and ONE such incident is enough to make you very unhappy!
