Lee Enfield rifle in CrocDundee II
« on: January 02, 2008, 09:10:47 AM »
I am looking for a stock like the one used on Mick Dundee's LeeEnfield in Crocodile Dundee II.    Does anyone know where to get such a stock?   It was a slim thumbhole design.

Yeah - I already checked with Steve (303.com) and he couldn't help.   He suggested some stock makers/suppliers but I keep running into a brick wall.   I am hoping this forum may shed some light.   I really like the way that stock looked.    Thanks  again for your reply.

OK I've been watching the movie this rainy morning to see what you were talking about.
I pictured the stock from Ghost and the Darkness that Val Kilmer's version of Lt. Col Patterson carried and was expecting a detailed sporting rifle.
The stock looks like it is either a Richardson Microfit or a Jim Davis design.  Jim is at the Agoura Hills Target range in Agoura CA. and may be able to help you.  He also did a lot of movie work in the 80's.
Richardson advertises here.

I am watching CrocDundeeII this morning and got some stills of the Lee Enfield Mick is using.   Strange but compact setup.   It definitely looks like a Richardson Microfit design but RM does not have it listed in their catalog of available stocks.   From what I have seen this little carbine has:

 - 303 Lee Enfield No.4 action and rear peep/ladder sight.
 - Shortened barrel about 18-20 "
 - ramp w/globe front sight
 - thumbhole straightline rear stock
 - wide beaver tail fore stock.

Anyone notice anything else or have any other leads on this carbine?

Like I said it looks like a Davis Design.  Give Jim a call at the Agoura Hills Target range.  The Phone number is (818) 889-0453 Jim is usually in in the mornings and leaves some where around 4 PM Pacific time.
