Scout Scope for Mil-Surp Mauser
« on: February 16, 2008, 05:54:02 AM »
Anyone have any experience with IMER (Intermediate Eye Relief) scope mounts on mauser mil surps?

A couple of years ago I used a B-Square and it was a disaster.  The steel screws stripped out the threads of the aluminum mount and it was useless after one shooting session.  Would not hold a  zero.   I note there are other makes and wondered about anyone's experience with them.

Thanks.

Igm270:  I just saw an ad in either the latest Shotgun News or one of the gun magazines for scout type mounts for a whole bunch of mil-surp rifles.  Can't recall if they were B-Squares or not.  What did the mount come with - steel screws for an aluminum block?  Were they short screws or did they go all the way through from side to side???

Somebody used a weaver rail and modified that to fit a Mauser front sight base but that was probably aluminum too.

You might be able to try bedding compounds (don't forget the release agents) to help absorb the shock or to buffer the holes in the aluminum block but beyond that I would try and find something in steel.  Just a thought.  Mikey.
