I hope the wife will overlook this
« on: February 18, 2008, 03:48:24 PM »
I had to go out of town to day. I ran across a gun shop I had not been in. Two Handis jumped in my car and I could not get them to get out until I got home. They are resting in the gun closet now. A NIB wood .22 Hornet ($40 less than at the gun show) and a syn. .22 Hornet used but you can't tell it from new. I guess I need to get shells for them now. Any reconditions?

Just remember it is easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission! ;D

It should be much easier than telling her you just bought a $3000 O/U shotgun.

Thanks guys.  I used the old " They quit making them so they will go up in value real fast" excuse. It seems to have worked.  I am saving the " Look what I got for you" for when I find a .357 single action I like and can afford. That is to go with the .357 barrel I ordered that she don't know about.  She is the one still working so I have to be discrete with some of my toys.

I need some suggestions on the best ammo for the Hornets, mostly paper and a close varmint at times.

Is there any TN coyote hunters on here that would like to teach an old dog some new tricks? I now have the time to learn more then how to keep the wolf from the door.

Just wait till she finds out how expensive hornet ammo has become, and you can convince her to let you buy reloading tools!

Great find! I have found that when a new firearm follows me home that not buying ammunition for it can be the prudent thing to do. You never know when the wife will think "that is the one that broke the camels back" and lord knows, it does not take a rocket scientist to load a Handi!!!  JamesIII

I had made a deal with my wife(rip)...

If I get a new gun after the point of the agreement - she could get a new pet or items for herself of equal value.    That she would not give me heck about my guns so long as I didn't give her heck about the dogs.

Pet count increased from (2)dog+(1)cat to (6)dogs+(1)cat+(1)bird over the years, and her jewelry, clothes and nik-nak collections grew. lol
