Lee die question

It may be  a novice question but I have the Lee deluxe 4 die set(.45 Colt) with the factory crimp die. My question is which die can/should I use to crimp bullets that have no cannelure, or can they not be crimped at all. Should I use the factory crimp die or the bullet seating die adjusted in deeper to add a crimp. I have been loading for a few years now but this one has me stumped. Thanks for the replies in advance.

The factory crimp die.You don't have to have a cannelure to crimp it.It will take a little more pressure to do it.It tells you this somewhere on the instructions for the die set.I use Lee factory crimp on every cal I load,with or without a cannelure...........Rick

Use the factory crimp die it is more consistent. Works great for BP loads also.

Factory crimp is the way to go.  Watch out if you OVER crimp, as it can push the bullet down into the case more.
