Grumulkin,

"Custom" means it is fashioned to the specifications of the user. Hey....if it works for you and your happy with it....that's what counts! Some people think Range Rovers are good looking vehicles. Go figure.

Randy ,IF your contender is a HANDGUN and NOT a rifle I would not worry about "cheek weld"! I would only keep my scope on 2x while waiting to see game. That way if you NEED more magnification, you can turn the X's up. I have shot deer and ground hogs with my scope on 4x when the animal was almost close enough to touch. The biggest thing to remember is to practice with your equipment. I have nieces and nephews that would hit pint soda bottles at 2 and 300 yards with a handgun using a 4x scope. They could do VERY well on targets at 25 yards too! You may be worrying to much about this. I'd get the regular rings and try them. IF they do not suit your way of shooting/hunting you can always get the see thru's

Forget cheek weld !
forget everything but this , the more distance between the bore of the bbl and cross hairs of a scope the less point blank aiming ability you have ! and the less usable adjustment in elevation you have ! On some applications it could matter !
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

Yes it's a pistol . I'm  not sure how we got to long guns & cars & whatever,,,,;-)....

Yes , probably just need to practice..Been deer hunting for almost 40 years but just felt I wasn't getting the picture I get with my other scopes..Never had a handgun scope before so I just need to get use to it..If you all can shoot at close range with a 2X  I guess I'll be okay...Like I said earlier , the last think I want to have to do is "think" when a deer is approaching..I have it in 44 mag which is killing my hand so I'm looking for a 22 which will allow me to get use to the gun and the scope..

Thanks for the replies , Randy

When I first started deer hunting I had a rifle with see through mounts. I was out on stand and it started snowing. I kept sitting and eventually through the fat snow flakes, I saw a buck coming at me. I lifted the rifle and saw nothing but snow blur through the scope. Dropped my eyes to the irons and dropped the buck. I no longer use the see through mounts ( I protect the scope during snow) but they did get me my first deer.
