...and they're giving me a new rifle!

I was having trouble getting it to shoot with peep sights.  I tried a Williams WRGS sight set up a few years ago.  Last month I tried a XS Sight Systems ghost ring set up (which is an AWESOME set up).  With both set ups I had to move the rear sight all the way to the right and I ran out of adjustment.  The rifle still shot to the left.  I noticed that the front sight was leaning towards the right as I held the rifle as I would if I was going to shoot it.

I sent it back at the beginning of this month.  I called today and they said they are going to replace the rifle all together.  They're just waiting for one to become available.  They told me to call back at the end of this week. 

My father bought this rifle for me when I was 15, I'm 33 now.  18 years later and Marlin is going to stand behind their product..........OUTSTANDING!

As much as I'd like to have the original rifle that my father bought me, I can really appreciate Marlins customer service.  My father told me not to worry about not having the original rifle he bought me.  He said having one that works properly is more important.  It's still a tough pill to swallow.

Wow, they can't fix it? That's too bad you won't be able to keep the one your dad gave you, but if it's not a big deal, it's a god thing. I have been dealing with Marlin for 40 years and they are great folks to business with. It's nice to think they will stand behind a rifle that old.

It sounds as though Marlin is really trying to do their best to take care of you. However, I would want the original rifle back even as a keepsake only. Did they say what their plans were for the original? You have a very understanding father but my father is now gone and the rifles he gave me are priceless to me even though they probably aren't to anyone else.

If you are happy ... and your father is happy ... well, it is all that matters.

I have no idea what they're going to do with the rifle I sent them.  My dad and I agreed that having a rifle that works is the most important thing.  I still have the rifle because he bought one for me.

I also have a rack of rifles that came from "the family", however, only one was "given to me first" by my Dad. None of the rest were given to me first by anyone. They were either passed along, purchased used, or purchased for other family members. My family doesn't sell guns within the family, they are passed along. That one "given to me first" by my Dad cannot be replaced as it is a custom sporterized Persian Carbine. In time, it too shall be passed along - to my Grandson. Not first, but as a family heirloom.
Your post makes me think how lucky we are to have Dads wanting to give us a rifle and teach us to use and care for it properly, and who find it important to pass along the Legacy of firearms. Your quest for accuracy taking 18years to fix is similar to mine taking 20years. Yours took a trip to the factory and replacement. Mine, fortunately for me,  took a new sizing die for the reloading process. You have a firearm with a tremendous warranty. I will remember this as I shop for my Kids & Grandkids! Better for them to have something from Dad or Grampie that they can get properly fixed with little bother or expense, than a Custom job that could never be replaced.
Mine can't be replaced. You are soooo lucky.
