Oregon To Raise Hunting Fees!!!
« on: July 31, 2003, 11:33:12 AM »
I guess hunters in Oregon are going to have to get out the big check books when buying a license.

Hunters would have to pay more in license fees under a bill currently working its way through the Oregon Legislature.

After passing 25-2 in the Senate, House Bill 2260 now goes to Oregon Gov. Ted Kulongoski, who officials say is expected to sign it.

If the bill passes, Oregon hunting licenses will climb from a minimum of $5 to a maximum of $107 next fall, depending on the type of license and whether they're purchased by a state resident or nonresident.

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) says the increases will raise an additional $10 million during the next 2 years, which will be used to compensate ODFW biologists and game wardens. Without the money, the ODFW estimates it would need to cut as many as 69 jobs.
