Between two broadheads
« on: April 01, 2008, 07:15:09 PM »
Right now I use muzzy 4 blade broadheads, which I am very happy with, and have been considering switching to magnus stinger 4 blades.  The reason is that I think the thicker blades on the stingers might be better suited for moose and brown bears.

It is between these two heads, I don't want any other considerations, we already have 5 pages of other considerations.

The reason for switching is for big game.  I don't care how your broadheads work on deer.

I am with you on the Magnus, however i will say I have not tried the 4 blade on the 2 blade.  They are of the same design other than that and are the toughest of any head in my option.  I have not been a big fan of muzzy for the opposite reason, they just have not held up for me. Again have not tried the four blade, just general thoughts on the brand.

While I have taken black bear and a few wild boar(would also consider those some pretty tough critters) with the Muzzy 100gr 3-blade, I can not not say I've been able to control the flight of the Magnus brand to my satisfaction.  I will be switching over to the MX series of Muzzy this next season....why?  No reason other then the cutting diameter and shorter ferrule.

Sometimes you just have to shoot what flies best, and then hope that the blades are ultra sharp when they get there.  Good luck on your quest!!

That is a good point.  If you cannot but the arrow where it needs to be you might as well be shooting field points.  I had trouble with the magnus for a while as well until I started tuning with the match points satellite makes and am pleased now but again this is only with the 2 blade.

Tested out some of the magnus broadheads today.  Nice.  Very nice.  They tuned up exactly like my field points.  They make beautiful groups!

They don't hit the exact same place as the field points, but I don't care about that.  As long as they group well.

Good deal!  Glad they are working for you.  Out of curiosity....where is the center of impact in relation to where the field points were hitting?
Don't feel bad....only a field point will fly like a field point!

They were hitting about 4" down and 4" to the left at 35 yards as compared to the field points.  But they actually made my arrows shoot more consistent.  You could see the difference in flex in the arrow change on flight, was better than with the field points.  I like them.  A lot.  Will be going after black bear when they get out... hopefully end of april, maybe beginning of may, depending on the snow... bunch of snow left still.

Glad to hear it.  I was shocked at how well they did on my set up as well.
