Canadian Longbranch vs. Savage Enfield?
« on: February 27, 2008, 02:27:16 PM »
Hey guys.  Which would be the best Enfield model 4 mk 1 barreled action to buy, the longbranch made in Canada or the Savage?  Which do you prefer?

Thanks,

Bob

Bob - either one would be a great find.  The Canadian made Longbranch rifles are great quality but some went to war - you would have to check the overall condition of the Longbranch rifle as it may have taken a beating.  The Savage made rifle never went anywhere - I know, I have one and it is great.  However, I did say tha either would be a great find.  JMTCW.  Mikey.

Man I've got a 1952 Long Branch that shoots like a Champion ;D!  My wife bought it for CHRISTmas for me 10 years ago and I will never part with it (that is if I can steal it back from my son >:().
I would (because its American) lean toward the Savage.  In the end which ever is is the best condition will probably be your winner.  BTW try hand loading for this cartridge, it will amaze you just how damned accurate these rifles can be ;D.
  Congratulations on your great luck!
