dillon precision products
« on: February 10, 2008, 11:10:09 AM »
WOw was i disappointed   after buying and using Dillon products (xl-650, rl-550,  plus lots of other of their blue stuff) i was loading my fl-2000 case tumbler and it puked!!!! took out the circut breaker and all!!!
so i called my trusty 1-800-223-4570 number  and the chap i got was more interested in selling me stuff than my NO-bs warranty that was standard on all Mike Dillon's  reloading equipment
Finally after he sounded disgusted at me for not wanting to buy anything  I explained the no bs warranty to him  and he says oh well you need to buy a new one for 195 + shipping
since my dillon customer number was under 2000     I was put off by it      So i will call monday and see if i can talk to Mike  and see whats up      I cannot believe that this company could have gone downhill                   i will post an update when i talk to Mike.  Hopefully i just got a bad egg!

well  i was told its 100 bucks exchange take it or leave it by Eric the service manager    i guess the big blue warranty is  no more    i even offered to pay freight and meet them half way on the 100    no go
was told that the free tuneup on my press(used to be mentioned in the blue press) is now 89.00     too bad i guess i will do away with the big blue   and go to a mix of red green and orange   too bad   i guess  it was too good to be true    Mike Dillon's no BS  warranty is just that                anyone else use dillon ?   or have a bad experience with them

let me say i have NEVER been pressured to buy anything from dillon when i called, and the people there were not in a hurry to get me off the phone.    a few times i called and asked about a problem i had,  and without me even asking they sent off new stuff to me to replace what i had.    service has been so great, i have personally bought 4 presses and i highly recommend them to folks.
part of me wonders if there is more to the story here.   anyway,  keep us posted for sure.

Most of my stuff is Redding, but I do have a Dillion 550 that I use quite a bit. My old tumbler is a Lyman 1200 over 20 years old. I'm just wondering if the Dillion warranty extends to electrical products. You might want to check their liability statement. In with the new Lyman tumblers, their giving a one or 2 year backing. In a way, can't blame them, as with power surge's and the like, tumblers are no doubt outsourced by Dillion. Any electrical part you buy from a Radio Shack,Circut City, wherever, if the box has been opened, you can't get your money back. Just a thought.  gypsyman

I have 4 Dillon SD's and from time to time needed to replace some parts. I have dealt with Tim and he was very willing to share advice and always acted friendly and professonal. As far as I am concerned the the Dillon customer service and warranty program is excellent.

I to was very surprised to read a bad review on Dillon`s service. I bought a 500 in the 80`s. and called them in the late 90`s when my house burnt. I ask how good their warranty really was and told them I lost mine in a fire. They ask if I had it insured and I told them how under insured I was they sent me a new one along with alot of extras. Not what I had lost in the fire, but several $ 100 worth of extras. I have never had any thing but praise for the service I have gotten from them. I sure hope that your problem was a 1 time thing and that you just happened to the unlucky one.

i wonder if the warrenty was up on the tumbler?  funny we havent heard back from him.  i might call dillon about this myself tommorrow to hear what they have to say about it.

given their track record, something is amiss.

like was said dillons lifetime warantee doesnt include electroics as they dont make them the outsourse them. What i do when something electircal dillon makes fails is box it up and send it to them with a letter. I dont call first as if you do they will tell you no. Ive never had them fail to replace a part this way for me. I think they figure if they dont fix or replace it they have to pay to return your broken one anyway. Another thing you will find is that for bigger priced items there going to want to see your broken part anyway. Its just to easy to get parts for free when you dont need them. I know a guy who found a frame for a square deal on ebay that was a bare frame and put together a whole press buy slowly asking for replacement parts. Stuff like shell plates too. They will allways want to see your old one because its to easy for someone to claim they have a plate that they dont and get one for free. Im sure phony requests for parts cost dillion big bucks every year and its amazing there as liberal with giving them out as they are.

I should be shocked buy this is not the first time that a father has started a company and the son has run it into the ground , all in the name of the almighty $$$  :(

When they start looking to cut corners things like this happen , don't get me wrong i like to save money too but at what cost in the long run will it save with unhappy costumers . ???
