FedEx Idiots
« on: February 29, 2008, 05:30:02 PM »
Those morons at FedEx are two for two with me now.  Two rifles shipped, two rifles broken.  They broke my custom Z-Hat .240 Hawk, and now they have broken a Diana model 75 I shipped to a guy.  Both had broken stocks.  What is it with these guys?

If you don't want them to break anything then have it insured for 10 times the value and have the gunmaker do the same.  Once fed-ex and others like that realize how much they will have to pay for the damage the will treat it more kindly............ Just a thought.  Mikey.

Why should we have to pay a premium in the form of insurances to get the service that should be expected of them, i.e: delivering our parcels undamaged?   That's like going to Burger King and paying an extra dollar for a hot burger and fresh French fries instead of taking the ones that have been sitting under a heat lamp for the last 45 minutes.   That just doesn't make sense.

I am sure that no matter what you insure it for they will only pay what it is worth, just like your car ins.
no use paying for something you won't get.

Use UPS.

Ditto

I pack and receive all day at work.
It's nothing to find forklift tire or shoe treads on a box.

You should pack your packages so they can be thrown across the room.
They likely will.

Long slender packages are at real risk in shipping, and we all know gun stocks are weak in the grip area. The secret to sending long guns in relative safety is a cheap hard case. Doskocil and Plano are two brands I frequently use. As working cases, the plastic latches on them make them terrible tribulations to open and close.
Because guys get sick up and fed of trying to get their guns in and out of them, they can be picked up at garage sales for around five bucks. Even new they can be found in the 10 to 20 dollar range.
When buying a gun on-line, I request it be shipped in a cheap hard case and ask how much more shipping fee will be required. When I sell one that has to be shipped, I indicate a hard case is included in my shipping fee.
I haven't had damage sending or recieveing since I started doing this several years ago, and no complaints about shipping fee either.
I rode with him,---------I got no complaints. ---------Cowpox

Both guns were inside Doskosport cases packed inside cardboard sleeves.  The HS Precision stock was crushed and split along the comb.  It would take quite a bit of torque to break something inside of that.  Maybe they were using them as loading ramps for the forklift.

I sent an angry e-mail to customer service and they sent me a generic guide to packaging, the implication being that I was deficient in my packaging.  I sent them a reply that they could rest assured it would NEVER happen again.
