Refinishing questions
« on: March 01, 2008, 01:54:56 PM »
I have decided to purchase the new Ultra hunter in 45-70.  The question I have is, is it possible to refinish the Thole stock? or will color not stick to it well?  It would be colored like this.

Let me know if you think it is possible.  I would also do a leupold scope the same.

Thanks

Matt

Matt

It will take the paint just fine with a little basic prep work , go the FAQ's and look under painting Handi's for step by step inst.

stimpy

P.S. Why not use a Palletwood or ( Tupperwear ) set instead of the nice wood of the Thumbhole ?

I dunno thats just what is going to come with the rifle and I really like the way the thole feels.  I haven't looked at the other stocks though.  Are they thole too?

Thanks

Matt

If you decide to use the thumb hole stock and it is one that is some thing other than a camo laminate and you are gonna paint it let me know and I will trade you a brand new camo laminate one to paint as I have 2 of them and would like to get one of the other color I think it's either brown or cinnimon they might even be a walnut color. Let me know before ya paint. Kurt

Averageshooter I deleted my last post as I thought maybe I was getting to close to rules infraction forbidding sales or trades outside the classified forums so I sent you a Private message. Just some other options to consider. Kurt

Kurt,  NP I sent you a response via pm.

On a similar note does anyone have a picture of the tupperwear stock?

Thanks

All of the syn stocks are made by Choate, you can see them on their website or the H&R site.

Thanks Tim,  I think I would much rather have the Thole stock that it comes with repainted, even though it is nice wood  :-[

Matt

That just means I will have to buy another one and keep it with the wood thole  ;D
