Snares and Deadfalls
« on: April 05, 2009, 03:37:26 PM »
How many people know how to set dead falls, and snares?  Making the trigger for a dead fall is the tricky part.  They sure do work, and saves having to use ammo to shoot them.  And under a survival situation snaring a larger animal over night may be more effective than trying to hunt during the day.  Again you can save ammunition.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

There are a lot of books available on trapping and making snares and traps.

There are web-sites for the same thing... Google is your friend...

Back in the early 70's when I was in Jr  High I read a book that I really enjoyed called My side of the Mountain and shows details on snares and deadfalls, and since I lived close to the woods I had to try them out to see if they really worked, and by golly they did.
It seems wrong now but as a child you like to try things even if it kills an animal I did not plan to eat.
I remember the figure 4 dead fall was tuff to get right. :-\
Thank God for the woods and the critters that inhabit them

Here is a link to a Cody Lundin video showing a deadfall being used. Not really a "how to" video though.
