Looking for a .454 barrel.
« on: March 01, 2008, 04:32:43 PM »
Does anyone know where I can order a .454 Casull rifle barrel without having to special order it.

    Thanks,

That will be a special order barrel if you want a carbine length barrel.  I'd go about 18"-20".

I have a Katahdan .460 S&W mag barrel for my Encore. It shoots 454 Casull rounds like a dream. I like the Casull in it so much I have decided that I will load that round instead of the 460 (which I cannot get to shoot worth a dern). Cannot explain why it will shoot the Casull, the 45 LC but not the 460. Someone with a lot more sense than me will have to explain that one.
Might want to give it a thought since they are a stock barrel.

I had one the same way and it shot way low. The 454 Casull shot OK. I heard TC won't make the Casull because of accuracy problems with the round in their barrels...unless they changed policy that is. Probably a twist issue or depth of grooves. Who knows. Bullet jump was over an inch on the one I owned. TC gave it a clean bill of health and said it was in their acceptable range.
