Casting and reloading for CAS
« on: July 01, 2003, 11:34:04 AM »
My brother just shot his first match this past Sat/Sun and Monday we went out and got him a pair of revolvers.  He's going to use my long guns for awhile and that's great.
Only minor problem and it's not really a problem at all is that I now am reloading for two.  Not to mention casting the 200 and 250 grain bullets we use.
Just finished reloading 1006 rounds for both the revolvers and rifle.  Took 2 hours almost to the minute and that's from walking out the door with powder and primers to coming back in and refilling the primer tubes.  Includes cleaning the rounds to get the lube off after reloading and putting the cartridges in their ammo boxes.
Glad I enjoy this part of the sport, too.

C.R.; that's some pretty quick loading.  I can go that quick with pre-lubed pills, but most always I am lube/sizing as I re-load and it doubles the time needed.  Re-filling the primer seater is another time consumer.  Now, when No Hat Nat helps me he can lube/size and keep the primer feed filled as I run the press and its lickety-split quick then -- but then I worry about being distracted and missing a mistake -- better to load alone, methinks.

I agree about loading by yourself.  I don't even listen to the radio or anything like that.
As crazy as this sounds get into a rhythm and do much better if I don't have something break my concentration.  About the same as when I ride my MC.  Just sorta become one with the machine.
