Hello everyone. I am new to this post and have enjoyed reading the discussions on the board so far. I had posted this question on another forum and someone there was kind enough to steer me your way. I have an Encore pistol in 30-06 with a 15 inch factory barrel. I am having problems with getting a full ignition out of IMR 4350 or H 4831. I am shooting Hornady 168g BTHP match molys right now. If anyone could provide insight on a powder that might give me a full burn in the barrel to cut down on muzzle blast I would be very appreciative. :roll:

I use mag primers with the slower powders. Not sure, but I think Don Bowers recommended it for his wildcats and the slow powder.

Drop back to a faster powder, like 414, 4895. 748. The case will not be full but the accuracy may be there anyway.

My 7-08 likes 760, I have not spread the sheet, but the barrel is clean.

You are in the fun part, once you find the most efficient load it is time to trade the barrel.

I ended up using a mid-range powder (IMR 4895, IMR 4064) for my .270 Win Encore and velocities were comparable to IMR 4350 loads with a lot less muzzle blast/flash.

57grs of IMR4350 is all I used in my '06 with 150gr XLC's

One of the slightly faster powders (some flavor of 4895, AA2700) should help.

Try IMR 4064. You should find just what you're looking for in that powder.

I've had great results using it in my 30-06 JDJ. I get good velocity with sub MOA accuracy.
