Muzzlebreaks
« on: March 06, 2008, 06:42:05 AM »
Any of you guys ever used muzzlebreaks on a Handi Rifle.I have used weight in the but and other tricks to reduce recoil, but I have no experience with MB's.I do know they will be louder, but with my shoulder as bad as it is I still want to shoot .I am pretty much left with lower power loads.  thanks   Doug

I've not shot my Ultracomps without hearing protection, but I got complaints from a fella shooting in a baffled position next to me that it was one of the loudest 30-06s he'd ever been near!! Depending on the type of brake, you'll likely experience less recoil as well as less muzzle rise, but at the expense of your hearing if unprotected, same for anyone to either side of you, in fact they get more noise I think.  :o

I had one on the 45/70 bbl I just traded it worked well to reduce recoil but you could do that with loading on the 45/70 I let it go cause I want to work toward the BC 45/70. It was a BOOMER though. Kurt

Tim, what caliber UltraComps do you have?? and do you know if the compensator that NEF uses is available??, if so it would appear to be the one to try first. :-\   Doug

I have two 270s and the 30-06, as far as I know they aren't available from H&R, but you could call an ask Jennifer or Gordon, they may have a stash of them and will fit one to a barrel for ya, ya never know!! ;)
