A few days back I was really lucky.
I was out lamping rabbits well after dark with my new 17hmr. Shot the first bunny, reloaded and fired at the next.... nothing, just firing pin click. The mag had dropped out! The luck bit was it had been snowing and the ground had an inch or so covering so I was able to follow my steps back about 400 yards till I found it.
It was then clear that the slightest brushing on the front catch lets the mag drop out!
Solution was a Velcro dot on the side of the mag so its a tight fit in the hole and needs to be pulled out.
Good gun, but like my last Bruno (1980 vintage .22 I wore out) the stock is not so good and touches the barrel. Like that gun I'll open the channel up.
Have thought of fitting a Richards thumbhole; any comments?
