.22 LR 15" Encore Accuracy
« on: March 09, 2008, 05:14:16 PM »
Having problems getting my 15" Encore .22 LR to group. Right now I am at 1-1/2" at 50'. Using the same ammo, my old Marlin bolt action will shoot almost single hole accurate.
Anybody else having problems with their Encore .22?

50' or 50yrds?

try other ammo brands/types. try as many as you can until you get desired accuracy. no two have to be alike in preference of ammo. sometimes "cheap" ammo works great....and sometimes "match" ammo works better. try several to see what that particular barrel prefers....kinnda like workin up a load in a centerfire.

Like kyode said, ammo is really important.  However, if you happen to have a sloppy chamber, there isn't a one hole group in that barrel.  A 15 inch contender/encore barrel with quality ammo and a good chamber will shoot lights out.  Try some less expensive, standard velocity target ammo first and work your way up.  Wolf makes some decent stuff for not much dough, though it ain't 85c per box like the remington plinking ammo.

BTW, if you find something that shoots, buy all of that lot you can get your hands on.
