Its 1343 miles to the Valet parking of the Excaliber, and I just PAY!  Its not a place for everyone, you just have to remember its all there to get your Money, last trip there I was there for 30 days and enjoyed all of them, however I went to do some Gambling, and to really enjoy the various themes of the different Casinos.   JIM

As I said in an earlier post, I lived in Vegas for a period, and have been back many times over the years both for vacation and for training.  I never found Vegas to be that bad, in addition, the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI) publishes information on crime and the dangers of a city to alert Air Force members and prevent them from being harmed.  These reports were made available to all new arrivals, and personnel there on temporary duty,  none I read reflected a degree of danger as described above.  Las Vegas is by far safer than Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlantic City or Miami, as well as several other places I have lived.  While living there I did not notice any more murders, rapes, etc than in other cities.  Robbery was, perhaps, above average, and there were a large number of suicides, but I attribute this to the fact that a lot of people come there to do themselves in, or choose to do so after losing a large sum of money, this is also true in Atlantic City.  Many of the crimes there stem from bad drug deals, or prostitution adventures that did not work out as wanted.

Over the years I have found that you can find trouble any place you go, if you go looking for it.  If Vegas were truly as bad as some attempt to lead you to believe, they why would so many of the largest corporations, fraternities, police groups, military units (to name a few) choose to have their conventions there?  Vegas is just like any other city for the most part, you can get yourself in trouble if you are looking for trouble, but if you remain straight then there is little to fear.

If you stay abreast of the news then you are aware that ricin was also recently found in Utah as well as several other American cities.  It has also been found in Japan and several European cities.  The fact that ricin was found does not substantiate the fact that Vegas is a bad city.  It may indicate that a terrorist, or perhaps even a scientist working in cancer research was an occupant of the room.

I understand ricin is relative easy to make, it derives from the bean of the Castor tree which is used extensively for landscaping in many parts of the south and Southwest, it is also used to produce Castor Oil.  While I would not want to be the next occupant of a room that contained the substance, I wouldn't judge the city to be bad just because it was in the room.  That would reflect the same mentality of someone that said a state was bad because someone drove down the road with ricin in their car.

No doubt it was built with dirty money, and had a very bad reputation for a long time, but that alone doesn't necessary mean it is bad today.  As I said, I lived there at one time, and have first hand experience in daily life there, it is no worst today than many other cities I have lived in.  Anyone can hype up anyplace on the map if they wish, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, New Orleans, and many others were founded to a large degree on dirty money, and most of them are no where near a good a place to live as Vegas.

Bottom line, until you have lived there and experienced the day to day life you are not qualified to pass judgment as it would be based on hearsay only!
