Ring Height for Mueller APV on Sportster 17hmr
« on: March 05, 2008, 01:13:33 PM »
Like the title says, I'm trying to figure out what height rings to get for my Mueller APV scope on a Sportster 17hmr.

I use all millet angle loc mediums on my handis, they give just enough clearence for the hammer.

I also use the Millet medium height Angle Loc rings and they have worked great for me. Use a little mechanical ability and common sense when mounting them and you will not find a better ring for the price. Others here do not like them and prefer another ring with a separate piece of plastic which varies in thickness that you have to place in the ring between the scope body and the ring and them orient it to make up for any differences between the scope and the barrel alignment (this is what I have gleaned from reading of that system by it's proponents on this site anyway). I have never thought that extra and separate piece was any better than solid metal. But, each to his own, that's what makes us individuals....<><....:)

I use Simmons(thats what is always availible here) high mount gives about 1/8" clearance and mediums if you do Fred's style hammer bob...I have started doing that and Like it...brings the scope down as far as it can go. Kurt
