On 12/31 I took a coyote call and my .22 Hornet out to a small area that I hunted for deer in the fall. When deer hunting, there were plenty of deer and coyote tracks. On the 31'st there was nothing except 1 day-old deer track. It's like everything went south for the winter!
Saturday I went out in the afternoon, saw some tracks, but only saw a squirrel, crows, and a hawk, all on the other side of a canal. I would have shot one of the crows, but they didn't land. Maybe the next time I go there I'll take the Savage combo gun.
I'd really love to shoot coyotes, but they don't give me any respect. I may have to wait for woodchucks. It's too bad that there are no dumps, rat shooting was a blast (pun intended).
