« on: November 13, 2007, 08:31:35 AM »
My youngun's Omega will fall open at the slightest touch. Is there a way to tighten it? I've got a call nto TC but haven't heard back from them just yet. Figured I throw it out to you guys and see if any  of ya'll had any problems like this.

Thanks in advance,

Don't hold your breath waiting for T/C's customer service to call you back. In the last month I left 3 messages with return numbers and never received a single return call. It's bad enough that they don't answer the phone during regular business hours but it's inexcusable that they don't return calls, especially when that is what the recording tells you to do.

2 demerits for you T/C!

I am not aware of a way to tighten the breech but have never tried.

I had pretty good luck with T/C service, but that was before they were bought out.

I've adjusted the breech tension on my Omega Z5 and its a very interesting and somewhat difficult job.It would be a LONG post. You didnt say if yours was a Z5 or not but if it is the breech mechanism is attached by screws and if these are loose it will effect block tension.Tightening the screws will correct the problem. If it doesnt pm me and we can talk on the phone and I can walk you through it.

Well, before T/C had returned any calls on issues I was having with their products. Evidently this is a thing of the past. I finally got tired of waiting and called back a coupleof times. I finally talked to someone other than that frazzling machine! The customer service person said they'd not heard of this one yet, but was right quick to tell me to box it up and send it back for repairs. I explained that beings as how BP season started this past Sat,when this came to note, it'd probably be just a bit before they'd see it. "No Problem" was the response.

Double,
I pulled the barrel/action off and this one has solid pins in it. They look like they may require a press of some kind. There looks to be a nut of some kind down inside but it is almost the same size as the action. There'd be no way of turning it unless the pin was pressed out. I told my youngun to just use a bread bag wire to hold it up(ain't that redneck sounding?) til after season then send it back.

Thanks

My bad. The block and guard are assembled with pins and they are a bear to get in and out.I was referring to the block which they are attached to and that piece is attached to the barrel with screws on the Z5 and with welds ( I've heard) on the regular Omega. If yours has screws attaching the breech mounting block to the barrel, tightening those screws will most likely correct the problem. Make sure the breech is open when you tighten them.

What's the difference between a Z5 and other Omegas?
