Q: Is it worth Updating to the Knight Plastic Extreme Disc System?
A: The bolt on the extreme disc leaves a much larger opening when the bolt is closed which releases much more blowback on you, rifle, and scope. 

The original disc works better for two reasons. With the flatter surface of the original disc it is easier to press in 209 primers. Also the bolt on the original disc rifle closes down on the disc tab doing a better job of keeping blowback contained.

 I have 2 rifles with the orange disc & one with the newer red. I have never felt the need to spend $100 or so to update to the extreme. I am usually not out in a monsoon & if moisture were ever a problem I'm sure I could improvise for that one hunt. I do like the easy bolt release on the newer style, no allen wrench required. I have one gun that because of fire damage & refurbishing has the new bolt release(new barrel) with the orange disc. The guys at Knight were very helpful when I ordered parts to get the rifle going again.

Knight has a good CS dept in any situation I have had to deal with them. Its top notch for guns that aren't too expensive. I don't think too many people take their muzzleloaders during rain just for the fact that its a muzzleloader.

 i bought a used LK-93 and called up knight for some info on the rifle . the man on the phone could not have been nicer. he sent me a new catalog. a reprint copy for my LK-93 even sent me a CD. now that's service. way to many company's have a customer service department that's use less . or you get someone in India that you can not understand at all. and some don't give a darn about you. so a big thumbs up to Knight. keep up the good work.
