Browning Buckmark URX price check and?
« on: March 03, 2008, 07:44:56 AM »
Saw a SS 5.5" URX at my local dealer Saturday and thought it was the nicest feeling .22 semi I have ever handled...and I have handled most all of them.

I am severely tempted.  Price was $370 plus tax.  Does that seem reasonable?Anyone else own this that can comment on their experience?

I am thinking about buying tomorrow evening so I need quick comments.

Thanks.
Be honest with yourself.  Can you guarantee you would hit a paper plate at 250 yards...100 yards...50 yards?  Then you have no business replacing the plate with a live animal.

I just bought (2/28) a Buck Mark URX 5.5" standard stainless steel (slab-sided barrel) for $332 NIB; I live in NE Illinois and hand guns in this area are usually pretty pricey. Tax and ID Check fee brought the total to $365 out the door.

You are spot on re feel in the hand... this is our second Buck Mark URX... we have the 4" Micro (also slab-sided barrel).  Great little gun, fun to shoot, easy to maintain.

Is the 4" a stainless/nickel or blue?  How does it shoot?  Compare to 5.5"?

Thanks.

The 4" is actually a black finish, like a lot of the SAs you see.  My daughter is the primary shooter for the 4" but I've put about 500 rounds through it.  Feels real good in hand, but I prefer the longer sight line that the 5.5" gives me (I'm farsighted at my age).  My daughter gets equivalent accuracy between the two, I do slightly better with the 5.5" (both have the same sights), but I'm convinced it's the shooter (me) and not the gun.  Personally, I like the aesthetics of the longer barrel... just looks nicer to me.

Where are the pictures? The price you were quoted was right at the MSR of $380. Guns usually go for well under MSR! Maybe with a little shopping, you might find one a little cheaper-----------?
I see all the Buckmarks have "Alloy" frames. I wouldn't be concerned about a good high grade aluminum alloy, but would run away from a zinc alloy (Pot Metal) frame like the 22A. Any one know what alloy they are referring to in their product descriptions?  Never mind! The frame is 7075 T6 Aluminum. Good stuff------------------
