I go to "The Property" nearly every weekend, 30 minutes from home. It is energizing to watch the sun come up on fields of annual rye grass interspersed with copious weeds and know that soon the endless cycle of herbicide devegetation, tilling, planting, and waiting will begin anew.
I wandered the adjacent State property on Saturday morning with my 12 y.o. son. While none were exhibited on my property last year, there were rubs on nearly every available small pine tree and scrapes in many traversing locations on the 40 acres to the west of mine.
We saw NO BUCKS on my land last season but knew they had top be there from all of the does and yearlings. The State land is strictly Conservation and off limits to hunting. So it is a huge wildlife pump. Now to figure out how to attract bucks during daylight hours.
