M-1 Carbine Rear Sight
« on: April 10, 2008, 07:23:47 AM »
I have one of the later sights, with sliding elevation adjustment, that seems to be blued, not Parkerized.  Is this unusual?  It's in good condition, does anyone know what it would be worth?

Value totally depends on manufacturer or if it an aftermarket. Most seem to run about $50 if real. 2 types of adjustable rear sights were made, milled and stamped. Milled always looked a little thicker than the stamped to me.

It is a milled sight, but it doesn't look like the one in the link that TNyoteboy supplied.  The picture below is not all that clear, but the best I can do for now.

It's not an m1 Carbine sight.  I looked on E-bay and other sites, and this does not match the M1 sighr.  This one has a female dovetail located at the center of the bottom.  The M1 has a male dovetail at the front.  I wonder what it is!  Any ideas?

1903A3? I know the 03A3s have a male dovetail on the rifle for the rear sight, I've just never seen one that was by itself, only mounted. It would make sense. I think we're getting somewhere.

You might be on to something!  It is marked for longer ranges than the carbine would be.  I'll stop by the gunshop on the way home and check it out.  Thanks.
