Anyone think there's ever a chance they will make the 44 Mag with a 1 in 20 twist like the 444? I've got my money waiting if they do.

As far as i know the 1-38" twist rate will stabilize a 300 grain bullet. Beyond that I am not sure. Just be thankful they shrunk the barrels down so .430" bullets can be shot with some accuracy.

Yep, a 1 in 20 would have made a decent barrel into a great barrel. I am glad they have finally solved the bore size problem. I am reasonably happy with my new .44 barrel so far.

The reason for my interest is that I am getting along ( 59 yrs) and I've been thing for a while I might like A low recoil short range deer rifle for my later years. Not to mention that it would be a fun gun for now, cheap to shoot.

I have one of the 'new' .44 barrels and while I am still breaking it in I am getting more than acceptable groups at 50 yards with hand loaded Hornady bullets over loads of H110. It also shoots Laser Cast bullets over light loads acceptably. I haven't tried it with 300gr or 240 gr Hornady bullets but it does a good job with 180gr. While this will not be my primary gun to take deer hunting or even my first choice in .44 mag (would take the Deerfield) I wouldn't be afraid to use it where I hunt.
