Ruger M77 Hawkeye stock
« on: March 22, 2008, 06:29:27 AM »
I just got thru adding a Rifle Basix trigger and a Hogue Overmolded stock with the full length aluminum bedding block on my Ruger Hawkeye 22-250. Everything went remarkably smoothly (for me  ;D), just one thing I noticed. When you look at the rifle from the top, the barrel doesn't look to be centered in the stock. It's a bit more to the left side in the barrel channel. I can slide a dollar bill all the way to the front of the receiver with no problems. Did I do something wrong when I tightened it, or is it just cosmetic? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Steve

Since the barrel is totally free floated it should have no affect on accuracy. If the action is dead in the in-letting as it's tightened down then it's just a cosmetic problem.. The angled lug on a 77 can tip the action left or right a bit if there's a burr or bit of material in the inlet. If it shoots well its likely not a problem..

Thank you for your help. I'll see if it shoots better next weekend.
