Double Barrel Percussion Cap ML 10 Ga. Shotgun

There is a very nice double for sale at a reasonable price in a local gun shop but I have been hesitant to buy it. My concern is dislodging the second barrel charge upon firing the first resulting in a gap under the shot and a loose charge.......................barrel bulge or worse. Please tell me this doesn't happen or how to prevent it. I would like to use it like any other double and take two shots in succession without checking that the second is or isn't dislodged.

I wouldn't be much concerned.  I don't have a double rifle, but do have a double 12 gauge cap lock.  Never had any problems with the charge in the second barrel staying put with only an overshot card.  Just check your load in the second barrel the first couple of shots to assure yourself that particular bullet is staying put.

 i have both double rifles and  shotguns . in percussion and flint  I also have a number of  originals in my collection dating  as early as 1832 .

Can you unseat the second barrel  after firing one barrel . The answer is  yes it can happen  and its always best to check the off barrel .
 Now that being said  in  all the years I have shot and collected muzzleloading SXS’s  I have  only 1 time found the off barrel un seated and that was do to my own stupidity of mistakenly  double loading  the powder  on one  barrel .
 I also knew with the recoil that I had better check the second barrel . When I did I found it had moved but not more then about ¼ of and inch .

 Our local group also often shoot clays with out muzzleloaders and many of the fellas also have SXS.
 I think most all of us load both barrels and shoot two consecutive birds .
  With the proper cards and wads , things hold real well  .

I long ago had a double barrel O/U muzzle loading rifle (horrible accuracy but that's another story). I never had any such problem with it. I don't think it's likely to be unless you were to just keep on shooting the same barrel over and over. It might be a sound plan to reseat the bullet in the second barrel if you shoot just one and reload it just to be sure the first dozen or so times but I think you'll find it's not moving on you.
