Finally worked up the cojones to take a file to my beloved GG, and extend the mag tube. I LOVE it! Thanks mad_rshn for the inspiration, and all the other helpful hints from those who've done it.
It took about 4 hrs all told, bought the standard mag tube for the 1895CB from Brownell (part# 550-000-664) for $26.50, and cut it from the rear to match the barrel. Then inserted the new mag tube into the stock with the mag tube plug in, and marked the centerpoint for the new dovetail on the barrel with a punch through the screw hole in the plug.
I was scared to DEATH of screwing up my barrel. So I took a plastic garage sale sign and cut out a piece, then soft-melted it over my barrel with a heat gun over the old dove-tail cut, and held it there with a clamp. With an exacto knife I cut out the shape of the dove-tail cut, then slid the plastic piece up to the new cut point and used it to mark the contours of the new dovetail.
Masked it all down and took a hacksaw to the barrel in four spots down to about 80% of the depth of the cut. Spent the next couple of hours filing with a hobby file set I picked up at Home Despot for $16. Once I got close, I went veeerrry sloowwwly, to make sure I didn't make the cut too big, measuring with the magazine tube stud itself.
Once all done, I blued all cuts with some Oxpho blue creme and assembled, adding a black nylon washer (not a perfect fit at first, had to ream out the hole) to create a gap between the mag tube and barrel, as per djh's accuracy tip. I used the existing spring and all other parts. The original spring is downright oversized for the stock mag tube.
Tube now holds 6 cartridges w. no problem, cycles like a dream. While in gunsmith mode, I also installed a breako 10 oz mercury recoil reducer in the stock (yeah, I'm a pussy) My guide gun is beautifully balanced and looks GREAT! Can't wait for the range test this weekend. Again thanks all for your tips!

Also, a scout set-up is mounting a scope over the barrel with a special mount made by XS Systems and is usually a EER scope like a pistol scope. This system is used in conjuction with iron sights with QR rings for quick removal. If your just going to use this for deer or hogs, I would just use a fixed power or compact variable like a 3-7x33.
