What drilling?
« on: March 19, 2008, 11:29:51 PM »
Okay, I'm finally starting to get some TDY money to set aside for a drilling...  question is which one?  I really like some of the newer ones like the Blaser, Merkel etc... I can find some of the older used guns a LOT cheaper.  We're talking 1800 Euro versus 3000 Euro and more.  The most prominent used ones all seem to be a version of 16 gauge barrels and a metric chambering of some kind.  What I'd really like is a 12x12x7mm... any ideas on Simson's or other smaller "names"???

I looked for months and never found a drilling that was still available and worked for me.

The one that I was ready to purchase that had sold was a Sempert Krieghof with a .22 barrel insert.  After researching the various makers of vintage drillings I found they had a very good reputation.

Drillingman might have some recommendations as to other makers to look for, his knowledge is very deep in this area.

Also I have seen a few lower prices on newer drillings, Cabelas and Bass Proshops both have Drilling's in their gun rooms.

Are there any specific makers you are looking into?
