I just picked up a NIB Trapper in .44mag. It is my first lever gun(I know, sad!) I went to shoot it today and was getting good groups, but they were consistently to the right. From the looks of the sights, there appears to be no adjustment for windage other than knocking the front sight over.

Could someone please tell me how to adjust the sights for windage? Thanks

Using a brass rod, tap your rear sight to the left or your front to the right. Both rear and front are adjustable.

Do yourself a favor, before moving any open sight via drifting, and mark the barrel at the edge of the sight - so you'll be able to see how much you've moved it.

1/16" side movement, on a 16" barreled Trapper, can result in a POI change of several inches @ 100yds, so - baby steps.

Sgtshutzy1, disregard all the above posts, the sights can't be fiixed and the gun is unsafe to use send it to me, and I'll see that it is properly destroyed. Just kidding welcome to the world of leverguns, this may be your first but I doubt it will be your last. Those trappers are nice little rifles, they are just about the perfect truck/tractor/ATV rifle, I sure you will enjoy yours.

You can adjust the sights as noted above and they will work just fine. I know because mine has for the past 15 years. However, after you play with the original sights for awhile buy a Wiliams FP receiver sight. They are quicker to use and easier to adjust when changing loads. They bolt right onto the rear scope mount screw holes.

Nothing wrong with the Williams sight, but I prefer a tang on the short barreled Trapper. Gives a longer sight radius.

I bought a like new used model 94 saddle ring in .357 that was produced in the mid 90s from a pawn shop. It shot to the left and drifting the front sight centered it. That created a couple of questions in my mind. First, since it is a nice shooting and functioning rifle, did the first owner trade of sell it not knowing that the sights can be drifted? Second, was the factory getting sloppy about regulating the sights before leaving the the factory? I know that keeping costs down is important but how much time would it take to do a few tests shots and drift the sight as needed before leaving the factory, especially for an employee that does it all the time? The first impression out of the box would be important I would think.

IIRC, those days are long gone - in these days of laser-aligned sights.

Test shots & factory sight-in was fine, back when relatively few commercial loadings were available - the factory had a pretty good idea of what ammo would be used; but in today's market, the maker has no idea what ammo might be used in a given gun - what with the super abundant choices we have available now.
So, sights are merely centered on the boreline, and it's up to the owner to sight it in.

The sighting of iron sights is also affected by factors such as facial structure. It is easy to sight in a scope for someone else, but if your face is thicker or thinner than someone else's or you have different cheekbones, then the iron sights will not be on for one of you.

I think all sight adjustments will have to be made via rear sight. On my trapper the front sight is not movable. I tried to remove mine when I put my Williams FP on.

I too own a .44 Trapper and wasn't happy with the sights. My aging eyes do better with "peeps", so I installed the Williams FP AND paired it up with a Lymann 17AHB globe that comes with several different inserts to select from->

It was necessary to trim off a "slice" from the front of the globe's "tube" so that it would clear the 94's barrel band.

Here's about the best pic I could get of the sight picture..

I'm really happy with this setup and can swap out the front sight insert to suit my whim + the sight radius is improved almost as much as going to a tang sight (but my rifle has a tang safety).
