Bushnell 4-16x40 Elite 4200 vs. Zeiss Conquest 3-9X40?
« on: February 23, 2008, 10:05:27 AM »
How would you guys compare these 2 scopes?  They are roughly the same price.  The Bushnell has the higher magnification, but also is an adjustable objective type scope.  I don't have any experience with an AO scope.  I'm looking to upgrade from a Nikon Buckmaster  3-9X40 on my Remington 7600 in 7MM-08.

The Ziess Conquest has more eye relief (4 inch's). you won't need more than 3-9 x40 for a hunting rifle.

Just curious, what is it about the Nikon Buckmaster that makes you want to upgrade?

The Buckmaster is a good scope.  I want to move it over to my muzzleloader and get a scope that has a little more light gathering capability.  I'm looking hard at the 4200 Elite in a 3-9X40.  Late afternoon/early morning I have a hard time counting points.  Anything under a 6 point costs me probation and $100.

This is coming from someone who just purchased a Bushnell Elite 4200 4-16x40AO  for his wife's Howa 270.
If all your worried about is light gathering-wee morn & eve hrs-and not the extra magnification go with the ZEISS by all means.I have recieved the Elite and it is an excelent scope but the glass is more compapable to Nikon Monarch,Leupold VXIII or Burris Sig Select brand of scopes and the Zeiss will outperform them all in low light conditions.
Good Luck,

IMHO for counting points a good binocular would be better.  Bushnell Legend binoculars are good optics for the price. If you're willing to put up with more bulk poro prism binoculars are less expensive than roof prism ones and can be as good as the roof type for less money. If you don't have a good binocular you don't know what you're missing. I don't mean the $1k euro binoculars. Decent binoculars are available for $300 and less.
