blackhawk scope mounts
« on: March 18, 2008, 02:32:08 AM »
I would like to mount a scope on my 45 blackhawk. IT has a 71/2 barrel. What is the best mount they make that you don't have to drill and tap? I will mount a 2 power scope on it.

if you find one let me know. i had 2 bsquares that clamp onto barrel and i ended up throwing them out. on my gp i got one of the best no drill and tap mounts i ever had.
the mount uses the rear sight hole and a replacement for the front sight is installed,
the new blade has a hole  for the front screw to pss thru and screws into the front part of the mount. then there are about 3 screws that tightened the hole package down.
i've shot a bunch of top end loads and the mount hasn't budged.
unforunately, the company is not open for business anymore, but i think bsquare is producing something similar. good luck dan

I have one of the B-Square barrel mounted scope mounts and have used it on two Rugers and several T/C barrels without a problem.  44 Mag with 300 grain bullets moved it a little.  I tightened it a little and it was fine.  Used a Leupold 2x LER scope and did OK.  A friend tried it on his 44 with a larger scope and had problems.  May have been the weight of the heavier scope.  I don't know.

I had a B-square mount on 41Mag Blackhawk for a while and I tightened the screws on it to the point of almost stripping them and still couldn't keep it from moving.  Bought a Weigand mount and drilled and tapped the top strap and the scope hasn't moved since.
