H414 vs Win 760 Powder

Question for the knowledgeable reloaders out there....... ::) I was reading that H414 and Win 760 were "ballistical twins".  Does this mean if a load calls for 68.5gr of Win 760 you could substitute 68.5gr of H414?  I normally would not worry about it but I understand they are not making or going to make the Win 760 any more.  This powder was far superior to any other powder and load I used in developing a load for my 300 WSM and I don't think I have much more than 1/3lb left.

Current production W760 and H414 are the same powder.  However, like any powder there can be lot-to-lot variations.  Always work up carefully towards maximum loads.

If you're that dedicated, I would either buy 8# of W760 (if you can find it) or work up a load (yes I would back off a bit and work up. Maybe not a full work up but.....) with H414 and if it works well, buy 8# of it.  Put it in the back corner of an air conditioned closet and pour it out a pound at a time. :D

The latest Hodgdon annual manual lists the same charge weight, pressure and speed for the 2 powders.  DP.
