Single Six shoots to left.

I assume your SS has a fixed notch rear site milled into the top strap with a thin blade front site.  Aside from shooting left of POA how well does it group?  Don't take this the wrong way but have you ruled out shooter error?  Are you shooting from a rest or off hand? Are you right handed but left eye dominant?  Has another individual shot your gun with the same results? 

Okay if the shooter has been ruled out and your groups are otherwise good you can make adjustments to the gun.    Possible fixes include but may not be limited to the following. 1) If you are off by only a little bit you might try bending the front site blade slightly to the right. 2) If you don't want to do that or need more adjustment have a gun smith turn your barrel.

Brett:  The Ruger is an SS with fully adjustable rear sights.   It shoots to the left, and it groups to the left.   I thought about bending the front sight.  I think I'd have to bend it almost horizontal. I'm calling Ruger tomorrow.  Quality control is questionable.  thx  Jim

If the gun has adjustable rear sites have you tried adjusted them to the left?   Moving your rear site toward the left moves your shot placement toward the right and vise-versa.   If you have run out of adjustment then it is time to call Ruger.

I thought I had to send my first one back also until I spoke with a good pistol shooter who showed me how grip affects poi as well as finger position on the trigger.  You haven't given us any indication of your experience level with pistols.  It may be worth your while to find a good shooting coach to work with before possibly sending a good gun back to the factory.

Keith:  I guess credentials are important:  I've had a multitude of revolvers and .22 pistols--no center fire in autos.  This is the first time I've had a revolver do this.  I have two 45 cal Ruger Blackhawks massaged by David Clements.  I once sent a Smith 44 mag back to the factory because it felt as if it had a two-stage trigger.  It wasn't supposed to.  They fixed it.  I'm not a great shot, but I do OK.  This is the first time I've had this issue come up: a gun shooting way to the left.  In the 60's I had a similar Ruger Single-Six with only windage adjustment, and I had no issues with that gun then. On my present Single-Six stainless, I did change the hammer spring and trigger spring to something weaker.  I know how to pull through the creep, and it groups nicely off to the left.   thx   Jim

I think some of these slip through. On my .357 Blackhawk that I bought new about 12 years ago has the rear sight set all the way to the left which did center it. If that would not have centered it I would have returned it to Ruger. It does look kind of strange though to see that sight way over.

I would suggest either sending it to Ruger or have a smith turn the barrel. It may be less time consuming to have a smith do it and probably should not cost much.

Well at least you are moving the rear sight in the "right" direction

Sounds like you got a lemon....

Any other visual problems?   Barrel index, cylinder bore alignment...

Is it a new gun?

I never had this happen on a pistol but I have had it happen on two rifles right out of the box.  Both got sent back to the factory and both had new barrels installed due to the original being faulty.  When I go them back they shot fine.

Barbegris:   No visual problems.   No visual damage.  I've had it as new for awhile.  I've only taken it to the range twice.  The second time I attempted to "zero it in" to no avail.  thx   Jim
