NEF or H&R vs TC
« on: March 25, 2008, 02:08:43 PM »
Will these handle loads for TC?

I have Several Encor's and about 9 Handi's, some of the same caliber. I just want to make sure that the loads are ok for them as well.

Thanks
Gene

I have always thought they would handle the same loads, as a matter of fact I just got a TC load book to use for my Handis....<><....:)

I've never read anything that has said the handi can't handle a T\C load. The only "warnings" the load books give are for 45-70 trapdoor loads for older guns, and "warnings" to NOT use Ruger #1 loads in any other gun but a Ruger #1.

I shoot NEFs and Contenders in 22 Hornet, 223 and 44 Mag,... Realizing this is not big cartridges and not sure this is a correct statement but my observations indicate that the NEF is just as strong if not stronger than my Contenders

H&Rs aren't as strong as an Encore, H&Rs aren't offered in any magnum rifle chamberings, but they're factory available in many chamberings that aren't available in the Contender, the entire 30-06 family of chamberings from 243 to 30-06, and the 35 Whelen a couple times in the past, it's also factory available in 500S&W, but they're plenty good enough for any of the standard non-magnums, their strength would be somewhere betwixt the Contender and Encore.  ;)
