I've had excellent results with IMR 4320 and Hornady 200gr roundnose in an old Remington 141 pump

I love my .35 Rem. The 200grain Hornady round nose is the bullet. IMR4895 38-40 grains shoots beautiful in my Marlin. Benchmark from Hogdon also works real well. I think that this is the most perfectly balanced rifle cartridge combination that ever lived.

For deer exclusively, I think that you are better off with one of the 200 Grain roundnoses or the 180 grain speer flatnose.  That 220 grain bullet is really more for the higher velocities of the 356 Win, if you think you might run into something tougher, then the 220 is a good combination choice.  You could also use the Hornady 180 grain single shot pistol spire point depending upon your magazine configuration.  I like that bullet a lot out of my contenders in 357 max and 35 Remington, very good bullets.
