ANOTHER 21 Day Miracle
« on: March 24, 2008, 06:31:52 AM »
The Brown Truck of Happiness just left after bringing me 3 barrels, scope rails, hammer spurs and a trigger job.  All just 21 days after receipt at NEF.  It is wonderful for me, but I sincerely hope they haven't slowed down that much.....kinda makes ya worry a bit.  Well, time to get going, got setup and shooting to do.
Keep both eyes open and make the first shot good.

Stainless '06, and blue .22-250 and .357.  Mounted two scope, boresighted the blue barrels and put them on paper this afternoon.  Wind was blowing so bad I had to give up outside.  I put the scout scope on the .357.  I LIKE it.  Rifle comes up and it is there.

Tim and you other guys, thanks for the rail information on the scout scope.  It worked out perfectly and it is a natural for me.  I'll post family portraits when I'm done, I have stocks and frames on the way.  Thanks again, all of you.  Pete

I had my own 21 day turnaround as well. They got my frame 3 weeks ago today and UPS delivered my new 280 barrel and scope rail this afternoon. This is the first time I have had a barrel fitted and it locks up tight.Dont know if its normal but they mounted the rail on the barrel and threw in an extra rail and a hammer spur.Cant wait to get the Vari-X II on there and start slinging lead.A report will be posted in the near future....Thanks ..... Another Pete

Pete, yeah, mine locks tight also since it came back.  The trigger job they did is great, and I didn't get charged.  I sighted in all three scopes at 60 yards with the 06 and the 250 two inches high and the .357 in the 10 ring.  I'll leave the .357 there for now and put on  snowshoes and post 100, 200, 250, and 300 yard targets and take the other two there in a little while if the wind stays down.  I want the 06 on at 200 and the 22-250 on at 250 yards.  That should put me about two and a half inches low at 300.  We'll see how close I am to reality.  I hate the ejector on the 06 and will check the stickies on the changing it.  Nothing like digging in two feet of snow to find the case.  My biggest problem is my shooting bench.  It's only about 16 inches out of the snow.  I'd have to either dig a foxhole or lay down and "shoot over the log".  I've been shooting off the porch rail, but that isn't good enough for fine tuning.

Simply press the barrel release lever with your right thumb and hold your cupped left hand behind the barrel and the empty will jump right into your cupped hand. Ejectors are great as long as you don't have a preconceived prejudice against them. They are very easily either temporarily or permanently converted to extractor only if that is what you want....<><....:)

Snow is not a problem here in Louisiana. The wife and I went fishing yesterday and the temp was 75 at 1pm.I hope things arent slowing down for them that much where they dont have anything being shipped in and can turn them around so quickly.I Plan to sight it in in the next week or so.Will mount the scope and boresight this weekend.Best of luck and hope it warms up for you right quick.

MSP,  that all works just fine, but I don't have a third had to break it with.  As I said, it locks up tight.  I've got to put a lot of pressure on the barrel to open it.  I have other single shots that open with a slight jerk of the wrist.
