« on: April 01, 2008, 09:19:59 AM »
I have traded for a 22" standard weight 243 Handi barrel.
What are you guys using for paper/coyotes.
Factory or hand load.

The old standbys, Federal 95gr Fusion and 100gr Power shoks shoot good in one of my Ultras,  Power-shoks are cheap at Walmarts that carry them I'm told, they don't here. :-\

I have a Handi with the 22" bull barrel. After much frustration getting the thing to shoot straight I am getting around one inch groups using 33gr. of H4895 with a Nosler 95gr. bullet and Federal benchrest primers. Handi's are much more fun when they shoot straight!

I just bought a perfect condition used Handi in 243 Win.  I have handloaded for many years and the 243 Win is one of my favorites.  I am excited on how this rifle will shoot with my handloads.  Full power deer loads I use IMR-4350 using Herters, Hornady, Nosler partitions all in 100 grains and 95 grain Nosler ballistic tips .  Varmint loads I use IMR-3031 using Hornady 70 grain SXSP & 75 grain v-max's  I am now working on youth loads using H-4895 with Hornady 80 grain single shot pistol bullets for my daughter.

My coyote load is a 55 gr. Nosler BT pushed to 4K fps with H-380.  Shoots iti-biti groups on paper... but that's outa my Browning Low Wall.  One a these days I'm gonna try to actually shoot one at a coyote!    ;D
