Savage Mark II-BV
« on: March 08, 2008, 02:52:10 PM »
Does anyone have any experience with the Savage Mark II-BV bolt action, clip magazine fed,  .22 LR rifle with heavy barrel and laminated stock?  It's  a handsome rifle and I especially wondered about problems, if any experienced with feeding from the clip magazine and whether extra magazines were readily available?

Moreover, the Savage web site shows 10 and 5 shot magazines and I wonder if they're interchangable.

Thanks for any info.

I just bought a BTVS (heavy barrel, thumbhole stock) a few months ago. I can't say I'm that impressed with the accuracy so far. However, I've only tried three types of ammo and recently discovered that the screws holding the barrel to the stock were loose. The trigger also occasionally sticks and I have to open the bolt and close it again to get it to work. We'll see how she does when I can spend more time at the range with her!

I have the Dick's Sporting Goods version of that gun.  Same heavy barrel, no sights rifle, but birch stock.  I cut a half turn off the accu-trigger spring to reduce the trigger weight to close to 2 pounds.  It shoots fine.  No sticky trigger.  If the trigger doesn't free up with use, contact Savage.  I had a defective Savage they replaced it.  They handled the shipping both ways.  The five or ten shot magazine both work.  I made sure I got the five shot.  I don't like carrying or shooting 22's with a clip sticking 2 inches out the bottom.  Check the Savage forum at RimfireCentral.com.

ive fired a few of them and have been impressed so far with them. gonna get my wife one this summer. i do have the FVT with the synthetic stocks and williams peep sights and it is a serious tackdriver with more than a few types of ammo. with the aguila rifle match ammo it will cut cards edgewise at .25 yds consistently if i do my part.

I have one and it shoots good. It seems to like the 31 grain federal classic ammo the best followed by winchester power points.
