Deer, and moose here have had a very easy time of it. A short winter, with minimal snowfall, and not even a crust on the snow.
The snow we had was far below norms, and that's fading fast.
Deer I've seen on the hoof, and roadkills I've examined have been in unheard of condition. Still quite fat. Things look great!

Here in VT. the winter has gone pretty well for the deer. Winter came late. First big snow was Feb 14. Then March 2nd got next storm snow & sleet. Below zero weather for a few days made it crusty. March 9th temp went up above freezing and has been nice since then. Rain today & snow is melting fast. Have seen alot of deer & turkeys moving around. And they look pretty good. The robins & bluebird are back, so spring must be here.( I HOPE )  ;D ;D ;D

I think the robins, or at least some of them, never left here. Although it's -10 here this morning, they seem to find their grub somehow.

Except for a couple of weeks here in the Missouri Ozarks we had a warm winter with little snow.  I am seeing quite a few deer but no fauns yet.  It is really greening up around here and the sheep and goats, the domesticated ones, have been dropping their young for several weeks and the deer seem to be on about the same schedule.  We should have a lot of multiple births, as there was a good acorn crop last year.

Lets hope they don't just feed the coyotes. I was out last weekend to my bowhunting spot, and was amazed at the coyote tracks, they seem to be everywhere.

This is an old thread, the winter here has been terrible for the deer this year, at least lately. The snow depth, they could handle, but then we had a thaw followed by a freeze, and the crust just is not enough for the deer. Coyotes are having it easy, as are wolves and dogs.
